Unified – All of the sentences in a single paragraph should relate to a single controlling idea.
Clearly related to the dissertation – The sentences should all refer to the central idea of the dissertation
Coherent – The sentence should be arranged in a logical manner and should follow a definite plan for your development.
Well developed – Every idea discussed in the paragraph should be adequately explained and supported through evidence.
Remember that in an academic english, a paragraph should contain more than 1 sentence.
If you find you have written a very short paragraph of 1 or 2 sentences, check weather you need to add extra info.
Try to use a range of linking words and expressions – moreover; however; nevertheless. These help your readers make the paragraphs clearer.
It may help your reader to conclude a paragraph with what will follow in the next one.
