VFX Breakdown

Creating VFX breakdowns is something which I always enjoy.  It allows you to see what you had at the very beginning to what you have ended up with.  It also allows the viewer to see what you had originally to what you created and all the different layers that have gone into that certain scene.

The website : “The Art of VFX” is one of my favorite websites as they regularly update it with new VFX breakdowns of the most recent movies released.  You gradually see every shot becoming bigger and better as technology evolves.

Some of my personal favourite breakdowns.  A couple of things I have noticed are

  • It is very fast paced
  • The swipe always come from left to right, as that is the way the eye naturally reads.
  • The layers build up on top of one another very quickly and at a rapid pace.

I didn’t create a breakdown for every single shot, because there is a few shots which I personally am not a fan off.  I did however create a breakdown of a shot from each scene, for example, I created a breakdown for the opening shot in the forest, wide shot of the Owl, close up of the Bee, close up of Ollie, close up of Dexter and the final shot.
